I replaced one of my fuel injectors yesterday to fix a hesitation problem I had when accerlating and noticed a small puddle of oil on the back side of the engine next to the intake manifold. Could this be due to a leak in my intake manifold gasket?

glad to hear it is nothing to serious.
I would love to see that replacment done once or twice or even photos of it being done.
I want to get a intake from a donar car and then start playign with it to see if i can make one flow better etc....

Oh don''t worry, Mickey. If you have DexCool in your Monte and the car long enough you''ll be able to see the replacement done. :o) It''s not a big deal though. lol

So from what I''m hearing it is not that big of a headache to replace the upper gasket I took off the fuel rail myself when I replaced the injectors and from what I can remember thats all that was in the way?

Do yourself the favor and replace the whole intake. This is what I''ve heard from three different mechanics today!

Do the whole thing. 99.99999% of the time its the lower intake leaking anyway. It''s like doing wheelbearings, if you do one you may as well do both. Save time and a headache because if you replace the upper gasket and the lower fails later, you need to replace the upper again. Get a Fel-pro kit. Also, make sure you get a gasket for your throttle body where it attaches to the upper intake plenum.

kool Im just lazy and havent gone out to look at it honestly. the last tiem i did anythign with it was a year or two ago and i dint get that far in to it.
Yeah can we say thanks to G.M for the stop leak tabs that shoudl eb named no flow tabs.
I could not belive they did that and actually said oh dont worry that is the recall fix !! DO WHAT?!!!!!!!! I DONT THINK SO NOT IN MY CAR!!!!
Also one mor ething there is a mad for our cars if you do not liv ein a real cold climate look in to blocking the T/B off from the kooling system it will take the hot water out of it and giv eyoua bit more responce but also allow for cooler air in to it this way . you cna look it up i beliv eit is on zzp''s site but worth the look .
I would if i had the cash put a spacer on there also

yeah i am sur eit would be defently a way to wake you up.
But what would be even nicer is a way to have a valve that can shut it off or on depending the time of year LOL
Iknow all about MI. winters LOL lived in Onaway for a short perid of 6years as a kid. still remebe rthe snow banks over the roof tops there. LOL

My car engine is doing better since I replace the injector but my transmission is still jerky when it sifts sometimes. The dealership told me it is some valve on my transmission wanted 800 to replace it. I was wondering if the intake leak could cause the valve to not work properly if it ran off a vacum line?

No. The transmission and engine other than the flywheel are two seperate things. If you have a valve going you have a valve going. $800 is going to be a whole lot cheaper that $1500-$2k when the whole transmission goes. I''d do it.

Today I was reading my haynes repair manual in reference to my transmission shifting hard and had a vacum modulator for the transmission that could be the problem. I planned on checking the modulator and vacum line going to it but was unable to locate it. The manual said it was on the front side of the transmission under the crossover exhaust pipe but no luck. Does my 02 ss have this modulator?
