In November I posted that I had lowered my 02 SS and that I would get some pics of it. I have the pics, but they are too large to post here. I don't know how to make them a smaller file. If anyone would like to see them, e-mail me at
rchurch@randallchurchllc.com and I will send them to you. Just a recap:
lowered 2" ront and rear
Eibach high performance springs
KYB gas struts
8.5" x 17" rims
255 - 45 Z rated Dunlop tires

I lost the disk they were on, but I'm getting new pics this weekend. I'll email them to you to post for me. I've had a couple of people wanting to see them. I'll include some pics of the new brakes too. Now that they are broke in, it's like tossing out an anchor when you slam them on. Next on the agenda is bigger sway bars and strut tower braces. That will be next month!

I can't wait to see them. I need to "brake" down and get mine done soon. I've noticed a little bit of vibration in the rotors and I think it's about time for an upgrade. I just need to find a way to get it past the BOSS..

They are Powerslot rotors, cad plated and crossdrilled, with Hawk carbon fiber pads. I also installed stainless steel braided brake lines. Total cost for parts, including shipping was $810.00. It took a few days to install, mainly because I painted the calipers and had to let them dry before re-installing them, and also I only worked on it in the evenings for an hour or two at a time.
The car is red and I painted the calipers red, using 1200 degree engine enamal. It looks great and the brakes are awesome.

I don't have a digital camera, so its been tough to get pics. I did have some taken, but couldn't get them to post, then lost the disk they were on. I've had a couple of friends tell me they would take some pics but it hasnt happened. I apologize for the delay in getting pics and my lack of technological knowledge.
My cell phone does have a camera, but I dont know how good the pics will be. I'll take some today and email them to TVW, who has offered to post them for me.

I found the disk with the pics on it. I emailed them to TVW, who has offered to post them here for me. They are pics before the brake installation. I will take pics of the brakes ASAP and ask TVW to post them also. The help is much appreciated, TVW.

In an earlier post I said the new brakes were Powerslot rotors, but they are KVR Performance Brakes. Sorry.

Anytime Randall........
What was the deciding factor for you between the PowerSlot and KVR's???

Actually, the only thing was Powerslot didn't offer the rotor crossdrilled, only slotted. I wanted crossdrilled because of the look (looks more "race car" to me). I don't know if there is a performance difference between the slotted or crossdrilled. I found some that were both slotted and crossdrilled, but they were almost twice as expensive. Maybe someone can tell me the performance difference and tell me if I messed up just going on looks. But like I've said before, the difference between this system and stock is very noticable.

Thanks. I use Mequire's wax, I'm not sure which, Gold something? I got pictures of the car with the brakes and a close up of the brakes. My daughter took them yesterday and is emailing them to me. I'll send them to TVW to post for me. I guess I need to move into the new millenium and learn to do this technological stuff myself!

wow, the 17's look small. Did you get the GR2 or AGX struts? The GR2's are silver, AGX are red.

They are the GR2's, because they are silver. What is the difference? I didn't even know they had different ones. I guess I should research better before spending the money.
The 17's do look small, but I wanted to put a tire on it that still had a good size sidewall because I didn't want to lose the ride quality. I felt if I put 20's on it the tires wouldn't have any sidewall and the ride would really suffer.

The difference between the GR2's and the AGX is that the GR2's are basically a slight upgrade from oem shocks/struts, they can handle a slight drop, I believe an inch or so at most, but I wouldn't go much lower than that as they are not built for that application. The AGX have adjustable dampening, which is lovely! I had them on my 94 Accord and it was nice cause when I loaded up the family, I could set the stiffness to soft so we could get the comfortable ride, but when it was just me and I wanted a more responsive/sporty feel to it, crank up the stiffness and I was ready for the auto-cross! The fronts are adjusted with a screwdriver(provided) under the hood at the shock tower, from 1-4, 1 being the softest, 4 being the firmest. The rear one's have a knob on them, marked 1-8, with 1 being the softest. To adjust those, you simply reach under the car and grab the knob at the base of the shock, turn to the setting you desire, and you're on your way.
The AGX are a little pricey, I believe I paid $340 for mine, shipped, but they are well worth the money! That being said, I wonder if they have an application for the Monte?
I totally understand your reasoning, makes alot of sense. It's that reason that I went with 17's on my Civic instead of 18's. I am only getting 18's for the Monte cause I would be able to get a 45 series tire, which is about the lowest I wanna go on any car, and because it fills out the wheel well a little more. I may drop it a little bit, but if I do, it's gonna be a modest drop and most likely using Eibach springs.
