I took my car to a muffler shop that I have used in the past for custom exhaust work. I had him cut out the resonator and put a straight piece of pipe and replace the stock mufflers with Flowmaster 40s (NOT delta flow) and kept the stock tips. I have to say it sounds awsome. Great sound at idle, sounds like it is camming. Very loud from the outside when you step on the gas, but rather quiet inside the car. I am very happy with this setup. As for the 8 to 4 cyl mode, there is not much in difference in tone, you can tell when crusing that it has switched but not anything annoying. This cost me $270 which I didn't think was really a bad deal, since I don't know how to weld.

If I had a V-8 with a great sound, I would not need a Stereo : )
