Tony Stewart's car just drove past my house.
I mean an orange Home Depot Nascar with the #20 on the doors just drove past.
Not the TS Monte Chevy sold at the dealers.
Are Nascars street legal? Cause I can hear the guy ripping through the gears a couple miles away.

Maybe it was Tony on the way to the Race Tonight at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
He could be break'in in a new engine on his way from Indiana & is taking a short cut by your house in
Ohio. Tony is starting in the back in tonights race : ).

As far as I know, they are not street legal for many reasons. Like everything emissions related, plus the fact that all the lights are stickers may be a problem too.

Just to name a few.
Besides, aren't the real NASCARs very slow starting off the line? I was under the impression their power is mostly at the higher end speeds.
Starting in the back of the pack, but infront of his house? That's pretty far back! lol

It's not impossible to make a stock car street legal... just figgure on shoe-horning it in some late 80's Chevy...
I mean... the big things are like the saftey stuff for other ppl.. horns... turn signals/taillights/headlights etc.

I personally saw the back & pass side of this car go past my house yesterday. (large hint, it was really loud)
If Tony's starting at the back of the pack, maybe that is near my house?
Tony does own Eldora Speedway which is north of me.
Maybe he stopped by his aunt's house down the road before the races there last night? (it could happen)

It's possible he may have arranged a promotional thing, and got permission to drive his race car down the street. That'd be kinda cool to see actually. Was the street closed to regular traffic at the time? It would be funny if it wasn't, and he was stuck in traffic.
I could just picture some guy in the car behind him trying to have a conversation on the cell phone: "CAN YOU SPEAK UP HONEY? SOME IDIOT IN FRONT OF ME HAS ONE OF THOSE LOUD MUFFLERS."

lol i would have loved to see that...prolly woulda ran outside and tried to follow for a while, and i guess if he knew his hand signals and had an airhorn in the car he could go newhere as long as its light outside, haha
If my camera hadn't been in the back of my '57 Chevy Wagon i'd have done my best to snap a picture of the car.
As far as I know, there was no promotional thing going on and the road (I live in the country) was not closed. Other cars & trucks were using it at the same time.
I could just picture some guy in the car behind him trying to have a conversation on the cell phone: "CAN YOU SPEAK UP HONEY? SOME IDIOT IN FRONT OF ME HAS ONE OF THOSE LOUD MUFFLERS." Now that would have been funny.

here is what you probably saw: i found a link once and can't find it again over on the Jeff Gordon Monte Carlo forum... there is a guy in the upstate NY who builds custom "race cars" for people to drive on hte street that look just like the real deals he also paints them to look like NASCARS. they look very much like the real deal, and he paints them like most NASCARS, as far as I know he only makes Chevy but he could probably do Ford, Dodge, or Toyota. The cars were about $75,000 a piece I believe with 350 Chevy engines. What you saw was probably someone who bought a Tony Stewart Monte Carlo.

Cowboy,
You could be right?
I mean what I saw of this car, it was a TS Nacar driving by. Right down to the black wheels. Not like you can't buy similar wheels at most tires stores or even Summit.
