Ideas?

While I have "given back" in terms of giving money, etc., I want to do something a bit different to "raise awareness" and get others involved, too.  So, I've thought about doing a Saturday "marathon" radio show in November and/or December (could do Christmas music then), in part as a fundraising effort.
 
To do this ... I'll need some companies to help sponsor the show ... and ideas on how to raise money.  I have a few already, but could always use more....
 

Some of the causes I've thought about donating to include:
Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital
Adult Conginetal Heart Association, www.achaheart.org
The Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Quilt Project, Inc., www.chdquilt.org

if you'll help raise money for cancer victims count me in

One idea that I've seen is where people pay to take a swing with a sledge hammer on an old, scrap yard bound, car.  Usually it's an old import, body in decent enough shape, but the engine, tranny, and interior are trash.  The car is usually donated by someone willing to help out the charity, and people pay something like 5 bucks per swing or what ever donation you feel like making it.  Imports attract more attention.  Especially with auto workers.
 

Taz ... I like that idea ... but, I don't think it'd work well for radio ... he he.

cort no i dont but this is something dear to me simply cos of my situation with 2 family members now having inoperable cancer so i dunno but i will help for that

Tentatively, the Saturday "marathon" show (including some Christmas music) may be December 15 and/or December 22.  I plan to contact companies in the coming weeks to ask about donations to be raffled.  Also, may have people bid on songs to dedicate to special people ... among a few other ideas I have.
 
If you know of any companies that would be interested in getting some recognition and helping to raise money for various causes, please advise me via " wrmnshowcase @ aol.com ".
 
Along with the causes I mentioned already, might also earmark some proceeds for those families suffering from the recent wildfires in California, as well as those still negatively impacted by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

I just passed a sales job that had me working as a rep with DARE.  The company actually made a profit by selling toys and then the toys donated to DARE.  I couldn't sleep at night if I took that job.

Umm...this isn't a job.  I'd be paying for the airtime out of my own pocket.....
