Anyone out there with the 06 V8 considering nitrous? Given this engine, what is the highest shot I can "safely" go with without serious mods. Ive been told 50-75 easily. I was considering it.

75 is the MAX, you are running stock parts on the car and the most presure you want to run with stock internals (unless they are forged). Also look at running a wet system because it is better for you engine. And if it is an auto also look at getting a switch that will only activate the Nitrous at WOT. And most of all don't forget to drop 2degrees in your spark plugs. Otherwise you will melt them! I learned that a few years ago with my first run at playing with nitrous.

Get this if you're thinking about serious nitrous kits:

**just keep in mind, with a stock trans its probably not going to support the 900 hp it says below, but it will support a bunch more than stock.  Plus you get rid of that annoying pull when accellerating.  Yes, the SS has the 4T65-E trans, just with an added HD for heavy duty.  Same case as on the 06/07 V6 montes actually, just some beefier components and a reprogrammed trans control module. **

Torsen Differential (not shown)
• Used in GM 4T65E Racing’s FWD drag racing programs
• Tested to 900+ HP
• In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this
results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both
drive wheels
• In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the Torsen
biases power to the outside wheel, reducing insidewheel
spin
• Provides constant and infinitely variable drive
• Power is transferred automatically without the use of
normal friction
• Extremely strong and durable, since it is gear operated
• No plates or clutches that can wear out
• Comes with new pinion gears already loaded

Now, keep in mind, this is probably not going to support 900 HP with a stock trans.   Just the differential is going to support more power.

Nice!   Close to what GM reports.  If you do get that nitrous you might want to look at getting some good performance tires too... Definitely would help improve that time.

I'm currently patiently awaiting a test and tune day at the local drag strip so I can get a slip without having to compete and shit.... it's competing that gets the insurance companies mad, not just getting a time slip.
