Well i'm not saying i tried to race anybody, but does the '06-'07 monte carlo ls have a speedlimiter after 120mph because it seemed like it wouldn't go any faster than 120mph, but i knew it had the power ....

It does have a limiter, I'm not sure what it's rated at, but it does have one.
My 03 SS had it set to about 110-115 MPH, but I could still get her up faster.
With the governer I got her up to 125 MPH and still has some juice let too.
That was before I got a upgraded PCM. (No lmiter now).

Mine seems to cut out at about 119.

I think it is in the 119-120 area. I beleive the 04's are around that area too. My PCM took limiter out as well. :)

172 for me!!!
Ok... ok... Thats in KPH.. But rumour has it that HPtuners can disable it.. I wouldnt go that fast without a tire upgrade tho.. Maybe better pads too.. Mine seem to really get cranky breaking from that speed.

My 06 3.9L 3LT has it limited at 113 MPH... Not really sure why, because it's got plenty left after that. But oh well, I rarely hit it, and never intend to stay at that speed for very long....

Any one of the tuners out there will allow you to remove the speed limiter. It's a really easy basic function.

My '06 3LT hits the limiter at 113, it even comes with its own little message in the info display..."Warning: Speed Limited to 113MPH" or something along those lines. I had a picture once but deleted it.

Mine does too. It says "SPEED LIMITED TO 172 K/PH" kind of like that little computer is saying "Ahh-ah-ahh! Not to fast now buck-o.."

All cars sold in America must have speed limiters on them. This is done per police request and you can find it on the web. This way you can't really outrun the police or at least not for long.

It's really suppose to protect against over running your tires. ^^^

Alot of cars run tires that are only good for around 10-116ish. After that there are problems.

and yourself in a way. the rev limiter is to protect teh engine. you can realy ride up and down the road at 120 all day, tis not that hard on the engine, its that GETTING TO 120 that kills it. sure, 120 is hard on the suspension ,the tires, the brakes when you stop, everything. you're flat out killing your car. its evne hard on the engine, but not as hard as that getting to 120.
