I've heard that the stock tranny on the 3800 is fairly close to the breaking point as is and can't stand up to very much HP beyond stock before it will start to go downhill. At what level of engine modification should transmission upgrades be considered? I plan on putting on a K&N CAI, ZZP PCM, headers, downpipe, high-flow cat, 2.5" custom cat-back, and Flowmaster 40's within the next few months (financially permitting). I think that would put me anywhere from 225-250HP or so? Would the stock '00 SS tranny be able to handle this if it already has just over 100,000 miles on it? I know Wayne (RocknSS04) put an aux. trans cooler on his; would the aforementioned level of modification really make the $80 for the trans cooler worth it?
