my 87 SS has stock exhaust and i just want to upgrade the mufflers to something more aggressive. im thinking super 40's with 24"x3.5" chrome slash tips out the back. i want it to be mean sounding under throttle, but i like to have a nice deep rumble on the highway. is that a good setup for what i want? i cant find any videos of a stock SS with a similar setup

im Magnaflow all the way.... performance wise magnaflow is much better... much less restriction.

The Super's are the most aggressive.

what do u guys think of the new Thrush 2 chamber mufflers? there supposed to be almost an exact copy of the super 40's, but $35 cheaper

I had Thrush mufflers on my 283, I really liked them.

They sounded best with the turndowns right in front of the rear axles.

was that there 2 chamber muffler? or the turbo? i had a thrush turbo on my 89 chevy pickup, it sounded good, but was a little to quiet for my taste

I am pretty sure they were the short turbos.

i would do the flowmaster 40's but get the delta flow's, you will get the nicest sound out of them, my dad has them on his 350 56 bel air, and they sound awesome, i have them on my hemi magnum and they sound awesome on there too, but i will warn you with no resonators they will be loud, so if you do a lot of highway driving you may not like it too much...sounds awesome, just loud

so its 2" in and out? does flowmaster make mufflers that small or am i gonna need adapters?

Muffler shops have equipment that can fab any type of adapter and it is included in the pricing.

yes, i'm pretty sure they make mufflers with 2" in/outlets, its a very common size

did you check out their site? its got all the info on there, i will take a look later if you haven't found anything

i havent looked at flowmaster's site, i only looked on a few sites like jeg's, i will look on flowmaster's site tho. i dunno if i want to have a shop do a whole exhaust for me, or if i just want to swap out hte mufflers myself. i dont really want to take it to a shop until i can afford to get a real exhaust done. in the future i want to put long tube headers, x-pipe, hi-flow cats,  super 44's or 40's, and have it run out the back like stock, but i cant afford that right now

i'm switching to magnaflow's tommorrow, the flowmaster's are just to resonaty, they droan too much in the car, being  a wagon its just too much, i love the sound outside the car, but inside its just too much
