Weather effect?

How does weather effect my cold air intake? I live in NY and we get nasty cold winters, is this harmful to my aftermarket intake system?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

it all depends on what cold air intake system you have and how it is setup. 
what year and type car do you have?
what engine do you have?
do you have any other mods to the car?
 
cars have a sensor that reads intake air temperature.  the colder this number the richer the air/fuel mixture.  the engine will need more fuel to safely acount for the colder air because the air is denser when cold and may lean out if the extra fuel wasnt there.
 
other factors that may occur from a CAI is you sucking up water into the engine, more dirt on the filter, and if you have disabled the coolent to the TB you run the risk of freezing the Throtle blade and it locking up and not closing!  this just happend to one of my friends up north!  you can even see it in the data scan he was making the TB plate was stuck at 10%  he had to gun the engine a bunch of times for it to release.  he's lucky the ice the formed wasnt enought ot do damage when it make it to the valves and into the cylinders.

i have the cold air intake on my car and i probably get the same weather if not colder than yours (i'm in ontario) and right now the check engine light is one from the cold air intake..but i would imagine its going to go off come summer/spring time
 
as for running, it doesn't effect the running quality of the car any, its a little noiser when you first start the car in the morning..but thats about it...
 
i wouldn't get rid of it for anything...it was definetely a good investment...great sound and great performance :)

IAT circut voltage too high:
did you move the location of your IAT sensor?  i'd double check the wires/plug just incase.  but you may be right about being too cold...just odd that the sensor would lack the proper temp range.

yah, we moved it when we put the cold air intake in, but we put it right back in afterwards, so the only thing i can come up with is that its sucking in too much cold air...i dunno..guess when the warmer weather comes i will find out :)
 
but at least it doesn't harm the emmissions testing up here...i asked them if check engine lights make you fail and they said no..

Haha, Good old Canada, gotta do it all different, but i appreciate the feedback. Now i just have to find time to do it. Were getting the northeastern storm, 3 feet of snow in less than 48 hours.....Im moving to Atlanta....i cant take it anymore.

oh and by the way, I have a 2001 Monte LS 3400. Thus far no mods because i just got it during this winter. Been to cold to do anything

i love having a cai cars sounds like a vaccum in the morings though

I love that vaccum sound in the morning even more when it is cold out

once you get aftermarket exhaust you wont know where the sound is coming from!  depending on rpm it will be louder in back or front.

yah, that's what i love about mine is the vacuum sound on the car...i love it!!! first thing in a cold morning its SOOOOOOO loud...then it kinda quiet's down...
 
and also you can really hear the supercharger wind up now too :)

I have had ZERO problems with my K&N CAI. It boosted my milage 2.0mpg. I live in sw Michigan, and drive it everyday min of 2 hrs commuting in all kinds of weather. No moisture problems or codes yet (knock on wood). I did put a lexan cover in the box to keep from sucking under-hood air, but that doesn't stop moisture from getting to it, and honestly, it doesn't get very wet, if at all.
