Hey all, I was hoping someone could help. 01 ss. there is something clicking in my dash and when it happens all of my lights flicker with it the clicking. Yesterday it sounded like it was comming from the passenger side and this morning it sounded like it was comming from the drivers side. It seems like it just started doing it yesterday. Any Ideas?

Thanks for the help

Does it do it with the headlights turned on with the switch?  Could be an auto light relay going bad.

is it a ticking or a rattle???

if its a rattle it could be something broken off inside your dash and its rattling around...if its a tick then it could get a lot harder

is it after you turn something on?? or is it all the time??

Well, It kind of shounds like the plastic of the dash is expanding and contracting. And its not jus tthe head lights that flutter. Its all lights. Even the done and floor lights. Very weird. I havent touched the headlight switch.

It'syour body control module (BCM). Same thing happened on my '01 SS LE. Light switches and all that stuff only tell the bcm what to do. The lights are totally computer controled.

well my service vehicle soon light just came on. the flickering also got worse. where is he bcm located? is it an expensive fix? the only way that i got my headlights to stop flickering was to turn on the headlight switch.... when the switch is in the sound comes from the passenger side. when the auto lights are on it comes from the drivers side.

I think it is under the carpet under the drivers seat, and I don't think it's hard to replace, other than taking your seat out (2 bolts in the back), and pulling up the carpet. But, it wasn't cheap, I'm thinking I paid $300 to have the dealer replace it. I'd call some junk yards to try to find one cheaper.
Mine only did it on start up, never going down the road, but like I said, EVERYTHING in these cars are controled by one computer or another, including the lights. Switches only tell the computer what to turn on.
The clicking and flickering of the lights tells me that's your problem.

An interesting turn of events..... now, the tapping in my dash has worsened and not my horn has started to chirp to coinside with the tapping. Is it still my bcm?
