i was told by the dealer not to use this filter unless i could get one that i didn't have to use oil with

reason being, some idiots out there saturate the filter w/oil and then wonder why their motor starts running funny when that oil makes it's way into the combustion chamber. But when done correctly, it's a non issue. The only thing I don't like about K and N is that thier initial filter capabilities isn't the best when the filter is clean, it only starts to filter like it should once it gets dirty.

More dirt = more efficiency? Please explain this one to me.

Not that I am doubting you but I have not heard of this one before.

Sounds funny huh? But it's true, I'll let K and N explain it(copied and pasted from thier website)

"As the filter begins to collect debris, an additional form of filter action begins to take place because air must first pass through the dirt particles trapped on the surface. So as dirt accumulates, the performance advantages of a K&N air filter can increase!"

I could have sworn you were the one talking about putting a filter in your car, not me

Don't think for a minute that I was trying to talk you into getting a KandN filter cause honestly, I don't care for thier product. I mean, I like the flow increase, but their filtering capabilities when clean worry me. The only performance air filter that I know of that doesn't use oil is Blitz, but they don't make an intake or replacement filter for the Monte.
