I've got some extra change and was looking to do something with it this week. Just needed a few tips on my first mods and the exhaust. I'll get the pictures up later on this week when I get my cam. Thanks in advance

Well the first mod suggested by everyone here is a complete exhaust system. Including the U-bend delete infront of the cat, and putting a high flow cat.
Other suggestions are a better flowing air intake like the K&N cold air intake system, and if you want to really go for it, reprogramming the computer.

I somewhat agree, the 1st thing should be eliminating that power starving air box, and putting a more free-flowing intake, one with a smooth tube. Even a fenderwell kit. Secondly, replace at least the u-bend pipe, preferable with a 3" downpipe and cat, as ZZP's stainless unit. Next, the plugs with 2 step colder plugs, Autolite 104's or 103's, or NGK Iridium TR6-IX plugs for longer life. The Autolites run better, but are copper plugs and wear out fast. Now a 180 deg thermostat. That sets you up for a 3.5" pulley. Now you need an upgraded PCM. Add a ported throttle body and spacer, and you can go to a 3.4". Add a ZZP power log front exhaust manifold , and you can MAYBE take it to a 3.3" pulley. Headers are WAY better, but WAY more money. A short stack intercooler, 1.84:1 or 1.9:1 roller rockers, a tuner by now, a 3.2" pulley, and you are starting to talk HP, and never pulled the thing apart. Ported blower and intake, a cam, etc, etc, it all takes $$$$, and caution. Too much boost, and it's TOAST. Ya got to watch the KR with a tuner. That's where I'm at now.

Then for your second mod on day 2...
Just kidding. Thanks for posting Wayne. Great advice, as always.

A REAL good start! I'm hoping tho have the intercooler and roller rockers in by Montes at MIS, April 11.

Depends on your year of Monte. The Gen 5 Monte's airbox sucked so you want to replace that. If you have a 6th Gen (2000+) then the airbox is much better and you want to tackle the ubend first. The mufflers are technically good up to about 300 whp before they begin to become a problem, but alot of people swap them out anyway just for the sound. You will get more power, but the money is best spent elsewhere like on rockers or a cam.
