the u-bend wont change any sound at all...and thats where all the power is lost...i dont think you will notice much of a difference without that being gone first

when i took out my U-bend there was a huge differnce in the sound of my exhaust

If you leave the O2 sensor in the exhaust, then the car will automatically adjust itself, and no changes to the PCM should be needed.  It doesn't matter if you purchase a pre-made unit, or have an exhaust shop make one.  As long as the O2 sensor is there, the car doesn't know any difference.

Guys!!!!  I took the car today at lunch to the muffler shop, took the Resonator and the U-Bent out and stay with the 2.25 pipe.  What a difference!!  The car sounds great!!  It's too soon to know about gas mallage but I definitely notice improvement in asceleration.  I am Happy

Excellent, I'm glad it worked out for you!  How much did it cost?

I want to get my car up on a lift first before I do any changes, but I'm looking at possibly eliminating the resonator as well, but if I do that I'll probably just get a new exhaust from the cat back.  That way I have the stock exhaust on hand when I re-sell it.

You should get a sound/video clip if you can, other guys looking to do that would definately be interested!

I got rid of the resonator with straight pipe, ubend delete via a magnaflow high flow cat, and have dual 40s.  It is way too loud on highway speeds, so glad it worked out for u

Sorry... Forgot to tell you how much it cost.

I had bought a K&N CAI and installed that one myself. Cost - $260.00 @ 3800 Performance
Then I bought the MagnaFlow with Tips (2 because of the dual exhaust) at a Muffler Shop and they installed it.  Cost - $300.00 (installed) --- I liked the sound but was not loud at all.  It sound almost like the stock mufflers and I wanted to be a little louder.
That's when I got rid of the Resonator and the U-Bent.  Cost - $45.00

So the total cost for this adventure was less than $650.00 (with tax and all).  I am sure someone out there can find all this at a lesser cost, but I am very satisfy with the quality of the work and I don't mind spending the $$ if they take good care of my Monte and the quality is to my satisfaction.  AND I AM VERY PICKY WHEN IT COMES TO MY MONTE!!!!

Excellent.  That's not bad at all.  Only 45$ for ubend and resonator delete?  Very cost-effective.  Now we just need someone that's gotten dynod with each change to see the difference... LOL

What a weekend at work I had!!!!  I am glad it's over.  As promissed, I took a small video (about 1.5 minutes) so that you guys can hear the sound of my Monte.  This is with a dual Magnaflow muflers, with U-Bend delete and Resonator delete and replaced with a straight pipe.  Hope you like the sound of it as much as I do.  Enjoy and... please provide feedback.

Wiz Kidd - The car sounds great, even on the highway.  There is just a little "rumble" that you can hear inside, but it's not bad at all.  As a matter of fact, the "rumble" is louder while in City driving than at high speed.  I drive about 50 miles every day to work and back.  Most of my driving is on the highway (about 40 miles at 70 MPH) and the noise is very minimal to none.

As for the part numbers:
Mufflers - Magnaflow 4 X 9 Oval Stainless Steel
14" Body Length
2.50 Inlet/Outlet
Part # 14316

Tips - Oblong Tip Stainless
5.25(W) X 2.75(H) X 7.25(L)
Part # 35175

i did exactaly what yo did with the straight pipe but I have flowmasters.  I know they have more interior resonance, but it was deafaning with the striaght pipe.  How is it inside with the windows rolled up for you?  at idle/cruise and highway

Oh, man!!!!  That sounds incredible!  About $650, huh?  Did you replace all the pipes as well, or just the mufflers/u-bend?  I'd love for mine to sound like that as well.

I dunno guys i acutally got my flomaster super 40's put on today for 159? They wouldnt take out the resonatore because they said i would fail inspection because the car was to loud but i never new that was a pas or fail thing. But i do have a buddy that can do this and let me just tell you about the flomasters. They already sound GREAT im going to have to get a sound clip posted with just flomasters on and then a sound clip with the resonator deleted and we can compare diffrences. My next thing on the list is the K&N CAI and does anybody have suggestions on what model to get because i know they have a few

Oh and yeh sorry for posting the question about the CAI in this POST!!
