I have a 2000 chevy monte carlo pace car and i have a weird problem with my a/c compressor. It wont cut on unless i put a paper clip in place of where the fuse usually would be at and thats the only way it will cut on. the fuse isnt bad , because i tested it, but the fuse wont cut the compressor on though, but the paper clip works for some strange reason. but its a weird problem and i was wondering if any of u have any suggestions?

Hi `Eric,
I don`t know `if I would be using a paper clip to bypass
the protection of your fuse.  It could overload other componets
& fry them .
I would check your relay.
Compressor clutch is controlled by the PCM through the relay.
Test your relay & see `if its `ok.
 Location
Clutch coil diode is 10 cm from the plug, the cycling switch is in the A/C line at lower left front of engine compartment, rely is in the bottom of underhood electrical center.

Good Luck `Eric

have your A/C system pressure tested and make sure its not low on freon. it sounds almost like the pressure switch isnt letting it go on. Have you tried a new fuse...i know the one you have is ok but maybe its not just right. Id try a new fuse of the same amprage and get the system checked out by a mechanic. Sticking a paperclip in there is doing nothing good for the system thats for sure.
