Sounds like a loose wire somewhere to me. I would follow the wires from the radio as far back as you can looking for bare wires, rubbing spots & loose connections.

Ive installed stereo's for a while but not for a buisness or anything and i think u either need 2 get a stereo smart guy 2 look at it and take the deck out and put it back in making sure all the wires are in place or just take ur car 2 a stereo bay and get ppl there to look at it ex. futureshop, Bestbuy, places like that.

Sorry to bump an old topic but I'm having the same problem in my 2003 Monte Carlo SS. Did anyone ever come to a solution for this problem other than taking to a professional? I've begun tracing the wires and so far they all look fine. I get power to the radio but no sound regardless of how loud I turn the stereo up. If it were a fuse problem would I get power at all? (I was thinking not)...unless there are multiple fuses for the radio power and the amp. I have a stock head unit and the problem began around 55,000 miles.(1,500 miles ago). Any more insight would be greatly appreciated ;)

gonna go back to tracing the wires until then.

Thanks in advance.
