I have to agree, a low FWI would act like a vac when exposed to alot of water. Kinda why I stuck with the cheap route of gutting my airbox. You get water in your TB/TPS/vac lines with an airbox gut your going to have more water problems than a flooded TPS...

z34- i hav emine in side the fender and it is pretty well protected. but i dont have a open cone on it ethier.
if i get enough water to cause it to stall or drop out then your right i will have more then the fwi to deal with might be more like the puddel or lake in this case my car is sinking in to.

mine is not much lower then the org. air box but it is out side of the of under hood area so that the air is cooler then what it was inside of the fenders.

but like i said i dont have a open cone filter on it so it is being protected.

Nobody seems to have mentioned this, but dump the stock filter and dropin a KN Filter as well.

Yep I just finished gutting the airbox. I love the way it sounds. Its pretty much the same until about 2800 RPM. Past 2800 it has a deeper growl to the sound. Its nice. I also can feel a better throttle response.
