was driving next to a srt-4 and were getting caught in traffic, finally we got to a light and took off. lets just say it ended with me ahead by 2 cars at 100 mph. twas a good race and the guy in the srt-4 was really chill. he was really surprised that it was a 5.3 v8 and also thought it was supercharged. not many people know about the new monte and i love there faces when they find out.

they are quick cars. if he has it upgraded and he losses to you then he must not be a good driver. All they have to do is know how to drive and upgrade the clutch, turbo and then there quick. BUT there are a few special editions running around where i live that smoke the evos and sti they are a mopar package special edition .

real world use, SRT-4's have run high 13s to low 14s at 100 to 105 mph in the quarter mile with a capable driver. The fastest documented stock quarter mile time for a 2003 SRT-4 is 13.75 seconds @ 101.68 mph, with a trap-speed of 103.16 mph [3], while the fastest quarter mile times with documentation for more powerful 2004 to 2005 models include several 13.6s @ 105 mph. Those stock times included the use of the original, factory-equipped tires.
but the important news was the return of the American Club Racing (ACR) edition. This package included wider BBS RX lightweight racing wheels with wider tires, 5-way adjustable Tokico Illumina shock absorbers, a stiffened suspension featuring a thicker rear sway bar, seats with pass-through slots for racing harnesses, officially allowed camber adjustment, and ACR logos on the exterior and embroidered on the front seats

I can confirm that they are quick. I challenged one a while back at a light...i took him off the line by a car length, but once that turbo spooled and he hit 2nd, that was all she wrote. I would be surprised if a SC 3.8 beat it. Not so surprised that a new SS stomped on it.

So thanks, ProfChub, for monte vs. srt-4 retribution!! It makes me happy to read stories like that.

haha no problem guys. yeah i have always wanted to race one as i was thinking of getting one a long time ago. but then i realized... it is a neon. haha but extremely fast ones. the upgrade kits on these things are insane. the stage 3 kit pushes it up to 300+ horses. scary in that little car.

coming with what it is rated at which is 260 crank hp and 230 whp i think stage three would be a little more than that. i considered buyinh one but i realized to that no matter how fast they were they were still neons and i couldnt get around that fact.

yah, they're quick, but i had him by a car length, and as far as i know this guy is a good driver, he's driven standards his whole life, i've always had auto's, but i dont know why u say that those cars are faster because i've never lost to him

Josh, you have a Super Fast Monte to beat a SRT. Was it a Stage 3 Dodge SRT4?
I don't like them, but they are fast.............
Below, copied from article
Looking for a modern muscle car alternative to the new Ford Mustang GT and Pontiac GTO or MonteCarlo SS : )? You'll need power numbers like 355 horsepower, 365 lb-ft of torque, and a price under $30,000 to compete.

But what about a turbocharged front-wheel-drive Dodge Neon weighing less than 3000 pounds with the ability to push well over 20 pounds of boost? Is this a modern muscle car? It definitely is. It's even scary to drive at times, like some of the most bitchin' muscle cars of the 1960s.

Meet the Stage 3 Dodge SRT4 that we borrowed from DaimlerChrysler's Street, Racing, and Technology division, the same folks who have created beasts like the Ram SRT10, 300C SRT8, and Viper Competition Coupe.

You want more numbers? Try 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds flat and the quarter-mile in the mid-12s at more than 110 mph. Forget Mustang and GTO, that's Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and Subaru Impreza WRX territory and at least a full second quicker than a stock SRT4.
