What I was getting at is a 3.5 V-6 can do the same 0-60 as a 5.3 V-8 in Monte Carlo SS. Meaning the 5.3 isn't that impressive to me when a CAMRY can run right with it.

Just to make sure were all on the same page here, what I'm saying is it's sad when a v-6 camry will do the same time 0-60 as a v-8. Not picking on Grand Prix GXP or Monte Carlo SS in particular. Just saying I remember the days, I'm old enough you know, when a v-6 would not run with a v-8 unless the v-6 was turbo'd or s/c.

It's still a 4-door and it does not impress me. Look at the Torque difference, I dont care what that BIAS motor trend says (yes they love imports its been proven) The Monte with the 5.3L will be LONG GONE with the Camry trying to catch up.. I know some people that have boycotted MotorTrend and will not read their magazines due to there bias opinions on imports vs. domestics. Jason

I can point you at some people who race and will tell you torque will get you down the track faster then horsepower will. I think Toyota makes a excellent product & a powerful engine for only a 3.5 liter. I really think it would be a better contest against a Chevy 3.9 liter engine. Let's race.

Hey 06BlackSS were talking 0-60 times not quarter mile. I just think it's odd that a 4 door family sedan such as the camry will run the same time as an SS.

Again, like I said, MotorTrend is very BIAS towards imports. It would not surprise me in the least that some of those numbers are doctored. And I would even go as far to say that Toyota has done the "you scratch my back I will scratch yours" in the past. I would love to see an independant test between both cars.

Comparison: 2006 Chevrolet Malibu SS vs. 2007 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart vs. 2006 Nissan Altima SE-R vs. 2007 Toyota Camry SE Thumbnail Image Check out the times on these cars. Click below link for article I've searched for a Road Test for the Monte SS but I could not find one with 0-60 times etc.. My dial up connection & low memory on my computer prevents me from further search. If any member finds one, please submit. Thanks You..`Space
