I guess depending on what kind of wax you are using. How long should a wax job last.

I guess what I'm asking is how many wax jobs do you do a year?

Yes it does depend on the wax. Regular wax will only last about a couple of months - depending on the weather conditions. A syntheic wax/polish like Zanio will last a litter longer - about 6 months. So the answer to your question is I use Zanio and I wax/polish my every day car 2 times a year, but I use Turtle Wax ICE on my show car (which dosen't last long but makes an incredible shine) about once every 2 months during car show season. Again, weather conditions come into play here.

2-3 Months using a good quality wax like Meguiars and maintenance (bi-weekly washing, quick detailer, etc.). Surface Preparation is the key.  Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax.

I haven't picked it up yet, but I found a professional detailing forum, and picked up some really good tips.  The best paint protection comes from something like a professional glaze (maybe apply once a year, this place reccomended Klasse Sealant Glaze) which gives a good shine (reflective) and does a really good job of hiding things like swirls.  Then to deepen the finish (the wet look) use whatever brand of non-cleaner wax you prefer.  A true Carnuaba wax actually only lasts 2-4 weeks depending on the weather, and the less Carnuaba and the more synthetic stuff the longer it will last, but the shine typically won't be as deep.  I've used Meguiars Gold class for awhile, which leaves a beautiful shine but doesn't last long at all.  I haven't waxed the 2006 yet, but don't plan on using the Meguiars (get tired of waxing every 2 weeks)  Looking at picking up that NXT wax you see in the stores after doing the sealant glaze and see how that looks.

Hiding swirls will only last until the first car wash.  It is best to be removed with a Porter Cable G100.  It is a defect in the clear coat.  ScratchX can remove the swirls with some passion behind the pad by hand or with a G100.

NXT wax is some very good stuff especially on dark color cars.

I dont know how trustworthy you are but I work at a car dealership and I can get you the wax we use which is AMAZING. Its called black pearl and you cant get it in stores. we have a guy that comes and brings us all our supplies so hit me back and let me know and I can find out how much shipping and stuff would be. I know the bottle of wax is like $20 but its a big bottle. For one car it would probably last a long time. We only get it about every 4-6 months and thats just cause we use it on all kinds of cars.
