Hey Kevin,

I've heard that this is likely to cause the most damage to your converter over time. You may also need to change your oil more often. Which kit are you looking at?

well its not a kit its just a spark plug in your muffler with a wire going to your battery and a switch

Kevin,

Your current exhaust system will produce very little in the way a fuel burn off. Your cat convert will burn off the majority if not all remaining unspent fuel after the combustion process. A true flamethrower works on the principal of shutting down the ignition system while still moving fuel through the system, which in turn produces a fuel rich environment through the exhaust system. Now, this system works great on older model cars that have very little in the way of brains, your car will no doubt shut the fuel delivery system down once it see that the ignition system has be interrupted.

Thx TVW. You've been a huge help........but just one more question. what if i knocked out my CAT? It just might have enough unused fuel to throw a lil flame. but i dont know if the computer would still interupt it or not. . . if all your doin with the wire to your battery is getting spark into your muffler then if i didnt have a CAT it might have just enough fuel to do it...just a thought

Yeah, you may get a little unspent fuel through the system if you were to remove your converter and if your fuel delivery system ran more towards the rich end versus lean.

This will surely void a warranty if you still have one. The expense and time of removing the converter may not be worthwhile, and you’re still going to need your converter in place to pass state inspections.

Hell, I would just spend the $50 for the kit.
