What type oil & filter do you use ? What does it cost you when you do it yourself ? What does it cost you when someone else does it ? Please make a post and share your information with the Members on what you use and like. I have a super/super girlfriend, today for lunch she said she had a surprise for me : ) I thought it was going to be something great for lunch : ) She got me 4qt's of Mobil `1.. .& filter. WoW, you just got to love a girl that loves cars : ). My Monte has 8 K miles & the oil has been changed 3 times in one year. I do a lot of short runs : (, but I always take her out and kick her down : ) My Monte that is Thanks, `d-`Space

I buy what ever is on sale at Autozone for $11.99 including filter. I know I will catch h-e-double hockey sticks from many members, but I've been doing it for over 30 years. Once reason I blew an engine was due to a plugged cat on the same car. Another time I blew an engine is because I put water into an aluminum block. I probably have over 1,000,000 miles clocked in that time and have never had any issues with dino except for Pennzoil in my first car. That horrible old oil clumped up my engine and I had to have it replaced. That was the only engine that got hurt from dino. I am sure that my bank account is up a few thousand dollars because I never used synth. Peace all.

I change my own oil/filters and have for years. (I had to vote twice on the poll cause I use dino and blend) I can't say how much $$$$ I've saved over the years from changing my own oil but it has to be $0.10 or $0.20? So far the '06 Monte hasn't needed an oil change but with the trip to MIS this past weekend the car did hit 12,000 miles on the clock. Having fun costs ya know.

1. using napas cheap stuff 2. right now about $11, oil prices have gone up lately though, used to be $8-9. this is getting an employee price even. 3. never paid to have oil changed, but dealer charges $29.95 for basic lube, oil, filter. and im with solaraslayer on conventional, because i've never seen a failure due to not using syn.

I used to use Mobil 1 full syn, but I think its too expensive really. I don't think you really need it unless you race alot or drive a really high end car. So now I use Mobil clean 7500 and a FRAM filter i think

I used to change it myself, but I saw my buddy have a ramp kick out on him when he was going to change oil once and mess up his door paint. I have a low profile oilpan to do it, but I'm just not as small as I used to be. I just take it to Saturn with a bunch of 19.99 coupons and let them do it. I don't get dirty, I don't have to dispose of the oil, I can do it on a whim instead of getting oil and planning 2 hours of total putzing around (Where did the fuggin wrench go?!?!) Oh and they wash my car for me. :)
