Hi There! I am new to this site although my Monte isn't new.

Yesterday I brought my Monte out of winter storage (not heated) and the first time I used the sunroof/moonroof it opened fine but stalled upon closing. After some time passed I tried it again and was able to jog it back and forth and it would stall at various positions while closing but would not completely closed.

Could someone explain this behaviour (or even just make a suggestion) so that I may repair it?

Your motor might be going bad...If you need it closed, pull the front of the headliner  by the switch to expose the motor and there should be a torx bit, just turn that...it is a manual override. Unless for some weird reason our cars (I Have a '99 Z34 too) has to relearn something like the 00+'s do...

I should look for tumbleweed emoticons; it has been that long since I posted here.

Thank you for the info and suggestion rysZ34.

The gears inside the motor were jamming. I ''simply'' pulled one out of a 97 Lumina at a wrecking yard and paid $30 instead of the OEM price of more than $400.
