you don't have to be a good counterfeiter anymore... they redesign the money all hte time.  all you ahve to do is design a bill similar to what is already out there, pass it around and claim it's the new one.

I think you may be right Duane.  As PT Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute".

I'm not suggesting anyone doing this, but most new counterfeitters figure that they don't need expensive counterfeitting equipment.  They just figure they need to print out good enough phoney bills from their color printer.  Good enough to fool change machines and such.  No need to try and fool a real person anymore.

Part of my job is to repair money handling equipment.  I can tell you that the technology in most bill acceptors are getting more and more sophisticated, that it's not even worth trying to fool them anymore.  Plus, surveillance cameras are everywhere now.  Even if you do fool a vending machine, they've got a nice picture of you doing it.  Then they come and take you away, and crush your Monte Carlo while you watch helplessly. LOL.

For the record, to avoid any potential "problems", I deliberately used an old outdated version of the Canadian $100 bill.  That one was replaced in 1986, and then replaced again in 2001.  Then the 2001 version had more security features added to it in 2004.

What was the topic of this thread again? LMAO.

hehe.. there was a big problem here for awhile and i'll explain what it is.

every american bill over $1 as far as I know (meaning $5 and up) have this bar in them that the machines recognize and figure out how much that bill is worth.  American money is really two different sheets of paper (a front and back, naturally) glued together.  what people did was use blow dryers and tweazers to seperate the sheets of paper, remove this bar, and put it in a $1 bill.  Now you cna get $20 worth of change for your dollar.  i'd have to be with you in person and hold a bill up to the light to show you this bar, but it's there.

yah but how would someone not realize that they got a $1 bill instead of a 20 or something...unless you put in in an atm machine..i know i wouldn't give that much change if someone gave me a $1

yah thats how the machine reads them...so it wouldnt work with a person but it worked with the machine...then u could turn around and give the 20 to someone and they wouldnt know better
