01 ss resonator rusted through - 6/7/2008 10:13:02 AM    Pjw350   Posts: 11 Joined: 3/20/2006 Status: offline My 01 Monte Carlo SS''s resonator has rusted through. Do I need to replace the resonator or can i put a piece of straight pipe in? I found a replacement unit on eBay. Your best bet is to cut an inch or so behind it then unbolt it from the down pipe. Then cut an inch or so infront and weld a pipe alittle longer than the resonator onto it. You can then bolt it back up and weld the other end to the back. Since I couldn''t find anyone with any stainless pipe in my area I also painted the pipe with header paint to hopefully make it last longer. _____________________________ 04 SS Intimidator #2643 of 4000. I want my monte to sound louder but not SO loud that its annoying when crusing on the interstate. I also don''t wanna spend much money.
