Well it was my very first time legally racing any car, ok it was 85 degrees at 2000 feet elevation

Stock intimidator  exept K&N FIPK I had 3/4 of a tank of fuel the rest was normal. I consistly ran about 15.5 I was a little disapointed I chalked it up to my inexperence some bad reaction times and  launching practice to minimize spinning

But the track was fun there was a 2008 Z06 corvette running 13s there was a Hiybusa street bike running 10s and a slew of full on non street legal quarter mile cars running 11s and 12s

a few hondas I raced a new Buick Skyline I ran a 15.6 that pass he ran a 15.4
I raced a 2003 mustang cobra which ran about a 15.2 but later had it down in the low 14s

Before i go back i am doing a full tune up spark plugs and all and hopefully exaust! i am saving for the supercharger pully and mods to go with it and a pcm tune  then we will see whats up!

I will post vids soon!

rt has nothing to do with your 1/4 time. You could have a 3.5rt, but the clock doesent start tikin on the 1/4 until you move :)

I am really surprised how slugish these cars are stock...
I never ran mine down the track stock, but i almost want to put it back to stock just to see what I could get out of it lol.

....oh...and that cobra.....SLOW!
I drove my friends cobra at the track and pulled off a 13.1 and his was STOCK!

...at least you had fun though right?
Now open up the wallet and start buying parts :)

z06 running 13''s!!

Seems like everyone was slower than they should be.  Track conditions must of played a big part.

no Bill.. the Monte ran great... it really did.  sounds like there were some bad drivers at the track that night.

i just noticed you credited a bad time with a bad reaction... i do''nt know if you know or not.. but reaction has nothing to do with ET, that just has to do with who gets to the line first.  the clock doesn''t start until your front tire leaves that line.

Let''s address a few things before we bash his driving skills:

1) 85 degrees = sucky for a supercharged engine
2) 2000 feet elevation = less oxygen for the engine to make power.

These are HUGE factors in why EVERYONE was running slower.  They always will in places of higher elevation.  500ft isn''t much of a factor, but anything above 1500 feet starts slowing cars down.

I run 12.5s in 500-700 ft elevation.  I would probably run a low 13 in that temp, and at 2000 feet.

Next item on the list is reaction time vs. 60 ft time.

Reaction Time (RT) has no effect on your elapsed time (ET) when at test and tunes.  Unless you are bracket racing, pay NO attention to the tree... that tree is an adrenaline booster, and gives you a heavy foot when it goes green.  Watch the tree, and plan to go when you feel comfortable going.  This means hold your foot on the gas, your foot on the brake, brake torque to about 2000-2500rpm, and then let go of the brake, and SLOWLY ease into the gas.  The harder you get on it, the sooner you''ll spin the tires to high hell.

So, 15.5 is a little slow for a stock Monte, but for 2000 feet and a hot day, and a nearly full tank of gas, you''re about right.  You could probably notch it down to a 15.2-15.3 with the right launch, since there''s always room to improve there.  Even with the stock or crappier tires, I can usually always pull out a 2.0-2.05 60ft time.

What was your 60 ft time?  Do you have all the data from your time slip?  Post it up!

2.0 60'' is pretty damn good for a fwd car on stock 17" tires lol.

I couldnt hook better than a 2.1 with mine, but that was also on an unprepped track. Ran 14.0 at 85* with the tranny slippin :)

it''''s all in the drivers hands man...

look, drag racing is NOT as easy as it looks... i''d like some people who''ve done it to post and back me up on that... it''s easy once you''ve doen it and got experience... but to a beginner, it is MUCH harder than it looks.  that adrenaline gets going, your heart is sped up, and you just want to push that accelerator thru the floorboard.  it takes experience, skill, and finesse to not burn it down on the line.  hte first time i went out i ran a 10.7 on an 1/8 mile.  i was down to 10.4 with a few runs and some experience.  now with more experience and more mods, i''m running 10.1''s.  the first time i go out, i do''nt run a 10.1 though.. i have to get a couple runs in to get back in my rythymn usually before i can run a 10.1... it really takes some skill and experience.  not everyone will be good and we have to accept it.

it''s like your first grade teacher taught you... not everyone will be good at the same things... everyone has strenghts and weaknesses.
